Picture taken on May 24th 2012, more than one hour and a half after moonset, while gazing at the dark skies in the Sommeiller mountain area, Susa Valley, Italy.
Wandering widely above 2.500 meters, I found these two large rocks that stood still in the dark of the night, under the massive presence of the Milky Way.
Quite a great subject for a long exposure.
In their austere simplicity these monoliths brought me back to the prehistoric monuments of the Neolithic or, why not, to the haunting stone statues of Easter Island... really one day I hope to pay a visit to the Moai... although these unique sculptures are located in the exact opposite of the globe from where I live.
Well, in the meantime I keep working with the elements I have

I'm impressed over the details, you were able to see all that through the naked eye? How often does that happen over Italy in Susa Valley?
