Self-timer shot taken at dawn (6:49 a.m.) on the ridges of mount Lagazuoi (2.778 m), Dolomites
Main mountains visible are: Lastoni di Formin, mount Pelmo, mount Averau.

I am absolutely non interested in photographing human subjects, but I love to portray figures in natural settings. Not only to give a sense of scale to the landscape, but rather to find out, somehow "restore", the right proportions of man on this planet.
I guess in this case a simple picture is worth a thousand words...

Humanity is just an element, a part of nature, of the universe, of this planet.
The question "why are we here" has existed since the mists of time, a question that perhaps shoudn't be placed... I guess don't even exists a "why"... in any case reducing the universe to the limited reach of our minds indeed isn't a logical action.

So I confine myself to contemplate the wonderful reality of... being here! A tiny part of such endless immensities :-)

Your work is just amazing. I saw only a couple of such works (I mean in higher mountains) that ar as good as yours (find Piotr Morawski photos in Himalaya). Congratulations!

Truly superb photography. i love the composition and the lighting is to die for. I am torn in two directions with this shot. Half of me wants to be the person stood on the outcrop, the other half to be the person taking the shot. Excellent work indeed. Simon

in both cases it is the same person: me!
since this is a self-timer shot, as stated in the photo caption :-)
I set a delay of about 5 minutes, so I had time to move

thanks!

That's an incredible picture and a most agreeable description too. But did you say self-timer? How long did you set it? :)

thank you very much!
if I remember correctly I set a delay of about 5 minutes, just to have the time to go to that ridge which was a bit far
nothing complicated, I just needed the time to go there :-)
